Integrated Decision Support Corp. (IDSC), which provides decision support software for the truckload carrier, said its Expert Fuel customers have realized millions in fuel savings
–$44,044,874.16 to be exact.
The savings were complied from an internal study representing approximately 60 customers recorded from Jan. 1 to Aug. 31, 2005.
"Historically, the cost of driver wages has been the largest cost for carriers, but today the cost of fuel has become the top expense," said Rick Murphy, CEO of IDSC. "The fact is that the more fuel prices continue to surge means that the variation in fuel price has never been higher. Our Expert Fuel customers are able to take advantage of this variation by consistently saving between 4 and 11 cents per gallon, per truck – whether fuel prices are high or low. With Expert Fuel, our customers have an integrated fuel management system that saves them money while they focus on customer delivery and growing their business."
Expert Fuel, IDSC’s fuel optimization solution, provides the driver with an optimized fuel plan at the time of dispatch, determining where and how much to fuel in order to minimize the cost of fuel. Combined with the fuel plan, the driver also receives the most efficient route plan, providing further savings in reduced out-of-route miles.
Fuel plans are generated using best-in-class fuel pricing/routing data and IDSC's unique algorithm to calculate all essential factors – in real-time, and in a matter of seconds. All relevant route and vehicle factors are considered in the solution, including: current fuel prices, fuel level, vehicle fuel consumption, state tax implications, fuel network implications, out-of-route miles, route policies, terminal fueling policies, tank fill policies, and driver amenities.
