With gasoline and diesel prices constantly fluctuating, increasing numbers of commercial fleet managers are looking for alternatives. In response to this growing interest, the National Truck Equipment Association (NTEA)
has scheduled an all-day “Hybrid Truck and Alternative Fuels Summit” Special Session at The Work Truck Show 2007 and 43rd Annual NTEA Convention.
The Summit will be held Tuesday, March 6, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Indiana Convention Center & RCA Dome in Indianapolis, Ind. The trade show runs March 7–9. The convention (including nearly 40 educational sessions) is open March 6–9.
“There are many alternative fuel and hybrid work truck initiatives under way throughout the United States. Many of these projects are on the verge of producing viable commercial vehicles,” said Doyle Sumrall, NTEA director of strategic opportunities. “The Work Truck Show 2007 is a perfect forum to bring together manufacturers, upfitters and potential customers to discuss how vehicle design will be impacted by the new technology and how to effectively leverage it in the future.”
Summit attendees will be updated on important considerations for alternative fuel vehicle deployment and vehicle hybridization. An extensive panel of industry experts will cover the challenges and opportunities for integrating work truck components and controls with hybrid vehicles
The NTEA’s Light-duty Hybrid Action Group will also meet at the Convention on March 6. This group of 23 fleets is working toward integrating light-duty hybrid work trucks into their operations.
The Work Truck Show brings together vocational truck fleet managers, truck buyers and maintenance personnel from the Class 1–8 market with hundreds of the manufacturers, distributors and dealers that produce the trucks and equipment critical to their work. In this single location, attendees check out the latest full-size work trucks and equipment while examining individual vehicle components offered by 450 suppliers. The concurrent NTEA Annual Convention features a full educational conference with industry-specific technical and business management training sessions.
