HighwayMaster Corp. has introduced a portable version of its model 5000 Series mobile communication unit and fleet management system. Unit provides the same capabilities as the permanently installed unit, but gives fleets and drivers complete mobility.
Unit includes wireless data and voice communications combined with GPS satellite vehicle tracking. Case, which can be fastened to the base of driver or passenger seat, houses a communications processor, while handset and speaker are mounted on top. Cellular antenna and receiver have been redesigned to attach over the passenger window or on outside mirror mounts.
Power options include cigarette lighter adapter, attachment for auxiliary dash power panel or fuse panel connector.
