The Truckload Carriers Association announced it will for the third year in a row honor the TCA Highway Angel of the Year during the uDrove Humanitarian Bowl.
UDrove, which provides mobile solutions for the transportation industry, is an affiliate company of Internet Truckstop freight-matching service. The Bowl recognizes the positive impact teams, coaches, and student-athletes have on their communities and the leadership roles they play in promoting humanitarian efforts.
"For the past two years, I have had the pleasure of recognizing the TCA Highway Angel of the Year at the game," said TCA President Chris Burruss in a message to members. "Kevin Burch, 2009-10 TCA chairman, joined me last year and commented that it was one of his top three life experiences, a sentiment which I share. Experiencing the appreciation for our Highway Angel's act of heroism through the applause of a packed stadium, during a nationally televised bowl game, was overwhelming."
"With the media regularly presenting our industry negatively, this event provides us with the ability to recognize the norm rather than the exception: the conscientious, professional truck drivers that are the stewards of safety on our nation's highways."
The uDrove Humanitarian Bowl game will help launch the NCAA football bowl season with a 5:30 p.m. ET kickoff on ESPN on Dec. 18.
