In a recent press release, LogisticsArchitects.com announced "the beginning of a new era in transport and logistics industry
, a place on the Internet where logistics professionals can do business, communicate and collaborate with each other, exchange ideas, network with peers and more."
Sure enough, there are forums, transportation news and chat rooms (though empty when I checked). There are online transportation markets with entrances for both shippers and carriers covering, well, most of the world.
And it’s all absolutely free – at least for now.
Of course, we’ve spent the last two years reading announcements just like it, but this new site has a twist.
You see, LogisticsArchitects.com is located in Slovenia, the northernmost part of Yugoslavia, in a city on the Adriatic called Koper, just a hop down the coast from the Italian city of Trieste.
But does LogisticsArchitects.com believe U.S. transportation-related companies will do business on a site based in the Balkans? According to Alfred Drascic, the company’s Marketing Director, the answer is yes.
”We are very convinced of this. Actually, logistics problems are becoming more or less universal. Companies engaged in logistics from all around the globe know what it's like to arrange for customer's cargo to be shipped, know what it's like to physically move the consignments, and know first-hand what it's like to deal in the freight market which is surprisingly cumbersome. And they are becoming aware that there is a better way to do it.
“North American users can take advantage of this opportunity that connect them with European companies and companies from other parts of the world also,” he said.
