A full day of speakers will address trends and challenges for the trucking industry in this year’s Heavy Duty Dialogue, Monday, Jan. 23, at The Mirage in Las Vegas.
Theme of the meeting, which will attract top-level manufacturing and supplier executives, is “2007 and Beyond; Managing the Business Cycle.”
The Dialogue will be followed on Tuesday morning by the opening of Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week, also at The Mirage. HDAW will run through Thursday.
Dialogue speakers and panels will address:
• Managing effectively in the constantly changing heavy duty market.
• Forecasts of original equipment manufacturer segments, 2007-2010.
• Sourcing strategies for the 21st century.
• Intellectual property rights protection.
The all-day program, beginning at 7 a.m., includes breakfast, lunch and a 5 p.m. reception with presenters, panelists and speakers on hand to continue discussions with attendees.
Featured speakers include: Jim McReynolds, general manager, On-Highway Engine Dept., Caterpillar Inc.; Norman Mineta, U.S. Secretary of Transportation; Chris Patterson, president/CEO, Freightliner Corp., and Dr. Clinton Longenecker, professor of management and business administration, University of Toledo.
The program also includes three panel discussions.
Panel 1: “2007-2010: How Bad Could It Be?” Moderator: Peter Nesvold, transportation analyst, Bear Stearns. Panelists: Chris Brady, Commercial Motor Vehicle Consulting; Martin Labbe, CEO, Martin Labbe Associates; Stu MacKay, CEO, MacKay & Co., and Kenny Veith, partner/senior analyst, ACT Research.
Panel 2: “Purchasing Trends and Strategies for the 21st Century.” Moderator: Tom Stundza, executive director, Purchasing magazine. Panelists: Denies Clarkson, director of purchasing, TRW; Hugh Charvat, vice president-supply chain management, FleetPride; Dave Nelson, vice president-global supply chain management, Delphi Corp., and Mark Purtilar, vice president-procurement, ArvinMeritor.
Panel 3: “Protecting Your Intellectual Property in a Global Market,” featuring attorneys Anthony Lupo and Sarah Bruno of Arent Fox.
