Heartland Express, an irregular route truckload carrier based in Coralville, Iowa, has selected TransFlo Express, Pegasus TransTech's truckstop scanning service.
"We are always looking for ways to position our company for future growth opportunities without having to add to our head count," said John Cosaert, CFO for Heartland Express. "This was an easy decision for us. We expect to decrease our days to bill by at least five days and reduce the physical handling of documents without ever losing control of our paperwork."
Cosaert said the firm had been having its drivers mail in their trip documents. "We knew there was a cost associated with not getting them in sooner, but our company is debt-free, so when we looked at other trip document pickup and scanning services, the hard dollar savings just weren't there," said Cosaert. "Pegasus was the only company that could guarantee we would get the documents within minutes from when the driver took them to the truckstop, which reduces our billing cycle and spreads the work out more evenly. Their confirmation receipt gives the drivers a security blanket that other services either don't provide or are too costly. We think Pegasus is definitely on the right track with TransFlo Express."
Reduction of the days from delivery to billing provides a competitive advantage to TransFlo Express customers. "The savings to our customers are both in improved cash flow and a big reduction in their administrative overhead," said Leslie Berlin, president and CEO of Pegasus TransTech. "TransFlo Express documents show up 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. With truckstop scanning, carriers' home office personnel no longer have to sit around and wait for overnight packages or mail deliveries. This spreads out the workflow more evenly throughout the day and the week, which has a huge positive impact on their administrative costs."
TransFlo Express, a service provided by Pegasus TransTech, is available at 236 participating truckstops nationwide. Drivers simply hand their documents to a fuel desk attendant for scanning. In seconds, documents are delivered electronically to the fleet for billing and payroll processing.
