Heavy Duty Trucking has won a Jesse H. Neal National Business Award in the category of Best News Coverage for last year's coverage of efforts to reform the way our national highway infrastructure is funded.

The award was announced Thursday at the New York City headquarters of American Business Media, which presents the award.

The awards, which have been called the "Pulitzer Prize of the Business Press," attract entries from a wide variety of business-to-business media, including medical, legal, transportation, information technology, agriculture, construction, education and more.

The national highway infrastructure coverage, both in Heavy Duty Trucking magazine and online at Truckinginfo.com, was handled by Oliver B. Patton, Washington Editor, Deborah Lockridge, Editor, and Tom Berg, Senior Editor. There were three finalists in this category.

This year's Neal honor adds to the staff's wide margin of leadership in trucking journalism. Newport Communications editors, who produce Heavy Duty Trucking and Heavy Duty Aftermarket Journal, have now won 43 Neal prizes.

Established in 1955, the Jesse H. Neal Awards recognize and reward editorial excellence in business media. They are named after American Business Media's first managing director, who remained active in promoting the business media throughout his life.
