The editorial staff at Heavy Duty Trucking received several awards from the American Society of Business Publication Editors, including four regional awards.
The Azbees, as they're known, are one of the top competitions for business-to-business, trade, association, and professional publications, and recognize outstanding work by magazines, newsletters and digital media. The winners are chosen by experienced judges with backgrounds in business publications.
In the Feature Series category, HDT took home a gold award for the western region for the magazine's EPA 2010 series. This included honors for Executive Editor Steve Sturgess, Senior Editor Tom Berg, Equipment Editor Jim Park, Editor Deborah Lockridge and Washington Editor Oliver B. Patton. The series, which ran starting in July 2009, covered the 2010 truck engine technology, from enhanced gas recirculation to selective catalytic reduction. It also included real-world tests of some of the new engines.
Editor Deborah Lockridge was recognized with a western region silver award in the Editorial/Editor's Letter category for her monthly editorials. Executive Editor Steve Sturgess also got the nod for his regular column, staff written. He received a western region silver award.
Equipment Editor Jim Park brought home a western silver award in the Regular Department category for his monthly Tire Report.
