Newport Communications announced that its editors have won nine awards in the 2007 Awards of Excellence competition held by the American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE). Founded in 1964, ASBPE is the professional association for full-time and freelance editors

and writers employed in the business, trade and specialty press.
The competition recognizes the best in editorial, design and online achievement and is open to U.S.-based business-to-business, trade, association and professional magazines, web and newsletter/e-newsletter publications, and their editorial and design staff and contributors.
Experienced judges with background in business publications read each editorial entry, which are judged based on quality of writing, reporting and editing; development of the subject; presentation; and value to readers.
Newport editors won ASBPE western region awards in eight different categories for their work in Heavy Duty Trucking magazine, the industry's leading fleet management magazine, and one award for work in RoadStar, Newport's owner-operator publication. National winners will be announced to the public at an Aug. 2 banquet held in New York.
