Harley, Diamond Ring Raffle Raises $34,000 for Scholarships

The Truckload Carriers Assn. last week awarded a new Harley-Davidson Road King Classic and a 3-carat diamond ring in its Fire & Ice raffle, which raised $34,000 for the group's scholarship fund.
August Badali of A&M Cartage of Tinley Park, Ill., won the bike, while B.J. Glass of Twin City Transportation, Little Rock, Ark., won the diamond ring.
Tickets were sold at a number of trucking industry events during the eight-month-long raffle. The prizes for the raffle were sponsored by Newport Communications, Caterpillar, ArvinMeritor, Michelin and Exxon.
June 1 is the deadline for students to apply for TCA scholarships for the 2001-2002 academic year. Any college junior or senior in good standing at a four-year accredited college or university, who is a trucking company employee or independent contractor, or the child, grandchild or spouse of an employee or independent contractor, is eligible.
