Greatwide Testing PeopleNet's eDriver Logs
PeopleNet has announced that Greatwide Dedicated Transport has selected PeopleNet for its specialized fleet operations. Greatwide Dedicated Transport is the fourth-largest refrigerated dedicated fleet

in the nation, operating more than 5,500 trucks and tractors, 4,800 trailers and 90 facilities in 48 states.
Greatwide Dedicated Transport is introducing PeopleNet into the dedicated fleets it operates for some of the largest companies in North America. Greatwide is also testing PeopleNet's eDriver Logs automated driver log solution with owner-operators at select locations. Owner-operators comprise the bulk of the company's fleet.
"As part of our 'Driver Driven' initiatives of 2007, we seek to provide drivers with cutting-edge tools to manage their businesses, which also run ours. PeopleNet has given us great service and support in getting an assessment of their products off the ground," said Mike Voelk, vice president of information technology for Greatwide Dedicated Transport.
At Front Royal and at seven other selected sites, Greatwide Dedicated has begun piloting PeopleNet's eDriver Logs solution.
"Greatwide is testing the automated driver log system to gauge its acceptance with the owner-operator at a variety of operating locations. We are also looking at the e-mail and engine statistics features of PeopleNet more closely due to their being so well received in early use at Front Royal," Voelk said.
"Automated driver logs have the potential to eliminate calculations, paperwork and headaches for both drivers and management," Voelk continued. "We see about 20 minutes a day in paperwork elimination and up to three hours of driving time savings by logging to the minute. We're trying to see how those savings stand up in different operating environments."
PeopleNet, based in suburban Minneapolis, is a leading provider of Internet-based and integrated onboard computing and mobile communications systems.
