Greatwide Logistics Services has acquired the contracts, personnel and equipment of Overton Transportation, a subsidiary of Sysco Corporation. The business will be integrated under the Greatwide Freight brand.


Overton currently has 70 tractors, 100 trailers and 133 employees located in La Vergne, Tenn. Through the use of team drivers Greatwide will operate expedited temperature-controlled service from coast to coast, allowing for fast transit of perishable goods from the grower to wholesale and retail distribution points.

"The acquisition of Overton Transportation allows us to provide new temperature-controlled logistics solutions that many of our grocery customers have requested," said John Simone, Greatwide's president and chief operating officer.
