Great Dane completed its acquisition of Trailmobile Trailer LLC’s plants in Jonesboro, Ark., and Charleston, Ill.
The purchase includes raw material inventories, machinery and equipment and the intellectual property of the company.
“We plan to initiate production of Great Dane vans in Jonesboro in the fourth quarter of this year,” said Phill Pines, COO, Great Dane. “Due to the current weak market conditions of the trailer industry, there are no immediate plans to open Charleston.”
The purchase is the second major acquisition by Great Dane in less than a year. In November 2001, Great Dane acquired the Danville, Pa., and Abbeville, S.C., plants of Strick Trailer Corp.
