Global 2-Way, provider of commercial two-way VHF/UHF radio systems, has signed nearly 50 fleets to the Global T-Fleet system since its September 2002 introduction.

The total number of vehicles equipped with Global T-Fleet is now approaching 1,000, according to the firm.
Providing what it calls a low-cost, high-quality nationwide messaging and tracking solution, Global T-Fleet is targeted at the mid- to smaller-sized trucking fleets. Users range in size from a longhaul fleet with 150 vehicles to a private fleet with six vehicles.
"There are a lot of trucking companies that have been waiting for the price of mobile communications to finally come down," said John Robins, vice president of Global 2-Way. "Now that it is at an affordable price, they are ready to move. We have received an overwhelming response from companies that had considered purchasing a system in the past but decided it was unaffordable at the pricing they were given. With T-Fleet's price point, we are well positioned to help these companies step up to mobile communications."
Designed to aid trucking companies in tracking and communicating with their fleets, the Global T-Fleet system consists of a rugged driver terminal, an intelligent transceiver unit and a small whip antenna. Using Global 2-Way's patented digital high frequency (DHF) network and the existing FM radio infrastructure, Global 2-Way provides coast-to-coast coverage at an average cost of $20/month per truck. In addition, Internet-based software allows users to operate existing computer infrastructure without the need to purchase additional computers or network connections.
Headquartered in Marco Island, Fla., Global 2-Way can be reached by calling (800) 220-5174 Ext. 270, or visit www.globaltfleet.com.
