Routing solution provider GEOCOMtms, of Quebec City and Atlanta, has introduced "Fuzzy Zone" functionality to its A.MAZE routing & scheduling optimization software.

The new capability enables the A.MAZE solution to override strict territorial parameters when routing trucks for maximum efficiency.
According to GEOCOMtms, traditional routing systems force users to define fixed zones with rigid boundaries. There may be good reason to assign vehicles to specific territories, but depending on service demands, the boundaries should be able to move or flex. Defining this flexibility is an efficient way to optimize asset allocation.
A.MAZE software provides the same flexibility in dynamic routing, when pickups are called in and assigned to trucks already on the road on the course of a business day, for example.
Bernard Têtu, CEO of GEOCOMtms, said that the "Fuzzy Zones" functionality allows users to more accurately represent their real-life business process and constraints, while providing increased optimization flexibility.
