Fuel Price Passes Record High, Keeps Rising

Okay truckers, we'll tell you what you already know: the average U.S. price for diesel fuel at the pump, which crossed into record territory earlier this month, continued to climb hitting $2.244 per gallon Monday.
The figures are posted weekly by the Energy Information Administration, part of the U.S. Department of Energy.
A record high of $2.163 per gallon was set Nov. 8, 2004, but that record fell two weeks ago on Mar. 7 when the price reached $2.168. Last week's price was $2.194.
Truckers are paying the most on the west coast where the average pump price reached $2.471 on Monday. The lowest average price of $2.180 was in the Gulf coast states.
According to the American Trucking Associations, the industry will spend nearly $15 billion more for fuel in 2005.
