Frost & Sullivan will host a complimentary webinar discussing how nearly one in three heavy-duty trucks will feature platform-based lineage by 2018.
The webinar will be on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 11 a.m. EST.

As commercial vehicle manufacturers from both developed and developing economic regions compete to gain a global footprint, there's a trend toward adopting a platform/ modular production system.

Frost & Sullivans Global Director of Commercial Vehicle Research Sandeep Kar and Commercial Vehicle Senior Research Analyst Ananth Srinivasan will discuss market drivers, restraints and challenges in heavy-duty vehicle production, as well as summarize platform strategies and conduct a comparison analysis of key global heavy-duty OEMs.

The webinar will also focus on a case study involving trucking OEM Scania's modular production system. Additionally, current and forecasted outlooks about the industry will be discussed.

"As OEMs begin developing growth strategies in this 'flat-world' [truck] eco-system, global truck platforms have emerged as major requirements for any manufacturer with strategic intent and hunger for worldwide growth," says Srinivasan. "Global platform strategies vary greatly from OEM to OEM, and there is still no common definition for what a 'global platform' really means in the commercial industry.

"However, our research projects that trucks on such 'global platforms' should total some 612,000 units by 2018 - nearly double that of global platform-based truck productions posted in 2011."

To attend the webinar, email jeannette.garcia@frost.com your full name, job title, company name, company telephone number, company email address and web site, city, state and country.

You can also receive a recorded version of the briefing anytime by submitting the aforementioned contact details.
