Freightliner Corp. hit the road for a 14-city truckstop tour that will feature the company’s Security Connection program and its new Century Class and Classic XL products. The tour will travel across the United States through October.
The tour features a 70-inch Raised Roof Classic XL equipped with a Caterpillar 3406E diesel, 600-HP, high torque engine pulling a special Security Connection trailer. The Security Connection trailer will be outfitted with displays and support staff to explain the program, which was created exclusively for independent owner-operator customers.
Security Connection is designed to take the worry out of being an independent by reducing business risk through state-of-the-art support services, discounts and privileges. With Security Connection, owner-operators receive VIP service scheduling, parts pricing, priority build schedules in Freightliner plants, and the opportunity to factory install the latest HighwayMaster mobile communications system. The Security Connection member’s priority phone number gives him access to the Freightliner Owner Operator Assistance Center, which is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and can be used much like an operation base.
In addition to the Classic XL, the tour includes the latest of the Century Class truck family: a new C120 Conventional with a 70-inch Raised Roof SleeperCab. The truck will pull a trailer with displays featuring the latest technological advances and driver benefits of the Century Class, including two new sleeper configurations - the Driver’s Lounge options and the “Penthouse” sleeper concept display. Also featured are a new option for an under-bunk cooler, a theft deterrent system, and much more.Representatives from the Mercedes-Benz Credit Corporation and HighwayMaster will be on hand to describe their owner-operator programs and answer questions. Also on the tour will be a “SelecTruck” Used Truck Center vehicle and support staff. Freightliner’s first two SelecTruck Used Truck Centers will open in May and will take Freightliner used truck purchasing and sales to unprecedented levels.
For a little extra fun, owner-operators will also have a chance to test their driving skills and compete against one another in an Eaton Fuller computerized driving and transmission simulator. The simulator gives drivers audible and analytical feedback on their shifting skills. The tour also includes food, beverages and Freightliner merchandise giveaways.
Remaining tour stops include: June 9, 10-Pilot Truck Stop, Las Cruces, NM; June 13, 14-Houston West, Brookshire, TX; June 18, 19-Courtesy House 76, Vero Beach, FL; July 10, 11-Truck Stops of America, Walcott, IA; July 28, 29-Petro, Richmond, VA; July 31-Aug 1-Petro-Bordentown, Bordentown, NJ; Aug. 18, 19-Travel Centers of America, Columbus West, London, OH; Aug. 21, 22-Travel Centers of America Chicago North, Russell, IL; Sept. 15, 16-Truck Stops of America, Walcott, IA; Sept. 18, 19-Petro Stopping Center, Joplin, MO; Sept.30, Oct 1-New Haven 76, Branford, CT.
