Freightliner Corp. has enhanced its Fleet Assistant AS/400 vehicle maintenance software with an Enroute Road Repair module that permits tracking of truck repair costs while the vehicle is on the road.
The new module is designed to give fleet breakdown department personnel recent vehicle service history and warranty information needed for timely repairs. Any applicable preventive maintenance schedules are also accessible through the Enroute Road Repair module. Secondary benefits include vehicle-to-fleet communications to assure that critical freight is delivered on time, as well as capabilities for analyzing the frequency and cost of enroute repairs.
Fleet Assistant is a vehicle maintenance management system that schedules preventive maintenance, tracks parts and labor costs by repair order, and controls parts inventory. The system also analyzes new vehicle and replenishment parts warranties and creates life cycle cost reports. Fleet Assistant is currently used by 137 fleets nationwide.
