Freightliner Coronado Now Offers Higher Horsepower Engines
Freightliner Trucks has announced the immediate availability of two new horsepower ratings for the Coronado heavy-duty vehicle

The Caterpillar "King of the Hill" C15 engine is now available with industry-leading horsepower ratings for Freightliner Trucks' flagship owner/operator vehicle, the Coronado.
The C15 engine from Caterpillar offers 600 hp with 1,850 lbs.-ft. of torque or 625hp with 2,050 lbs.-ft. of torque, further expanding the Coronado's performance capabilities in the most extreme heavy-duty applications. These ratings are governed at 2,100 rpm.
"These higher-horsepower ratings from Caterpillar offer our customers more power to get the job done," said Mark Lampert, senior vice president of sales and marketing. "It's a great component option for our Coronado, a favorite among North American owner-operators for its ability to handle the toughest jobs and heaviest loads with superior ride and handling, unique styling and outstanding customer support."
The Coronado's oversized 1,500-square-inch radiator provides superior cooling capacity for these high horsepower C15 engines.
The Caterpillar "King of the Hill" C15 engine has a unique camshaft, piston and injectors with the next-generation Caterpillar electronic control module (ECM).
The Coronado offers easy access to the engine compartment, enabling quick service with ample room under the hood for technician comfort. The hood of the Coronado is extremely easy to lift due to a torsion-spring mechanism.
The C15 engine is certified and compliant to the EPA 2004 standards. Additionally, the C15 uses ACERT technology to reduce emissions while supplying reliability and durability.
The Coronado is available with Detroit Diesel Series 60 engines with up-to 550 hp as standard. The Caterpillar "King of the Hill" C15 600 hp or 625 hp engines are optional.
