Freightliner Announces Slice of Trucker Life Blog
Freightliner Trucks has provided three owner-operators a "Slice of Life" - a 2009 Freightliner Cascadia for one year. In exchange, the drivers will blog about their real world experiences on the road via www.SliceofTruckerLife.com

"Through this unique program, we are pleased to help these owner-operators meet their business needs while they test out the Cascadia in their day-to-day lives," said Melissa Clausen, director of product marketing for Freightliner Trucks.
Participating in the Slice of Life program are: Henry Albert, 44, the owner of Albert Transport, Inc., based in Statesville, N.C.; Dick McCorkle, 63, who works for Perkins Specialized Transportation in Noblesville, Ind.; and Kurt Grote, 49, who works for John Christner Trucking in Sapulpa, Okla.
Albert, who currently drives a 2001 Freightliner Century Class S/T, said he is looking forward to using the new Cascadia for general freight and a dry van trailer. He has been a trucker for 24 years.
McCorkle, who currently drives a 2000 International Eagle, has been a driver for 44 years. He currently is a leased on owner-operator for Perkins, and typically transports furniture and store fixtures throughout the southwestern United States, but he has hauled freight to all 48 contiguous states. McCorkle was named the 2001 Indiana Motor Truck Association's Driver of the Year and recently won a sportsmanship award in the Indiana truck rodeo championships, in which he has competed for 42 years.
Grote, who hauls refrigerated products to all 48 states and Canada, has been a driver since 1992. Grote, who currently drives a 2006 Kenworth W900, is a leased on owner-operator with John Christner Trucking, based in Sapulpa, Okla.
The Slice of Life program kicked off at the Cleveland, N.C., Freightliner Trucks plant on August 19, where the owner-operators were presented with their new Cascadia trucks and given a VIP tour of the truck plant.
Those interested in meeting the drivers and their trucks will have the chance at various events, including the 2009 Mid America Truck Show in Louisville, Ky., March 19-21, 2009 at the Freightliner Trucks booth.
