FreightDATA Software, Newport Beach, Ca., has partnered with KonaWare, Inc., to develop and deploy FreightDATA Mobile

, a new, mobile LTL transportation management system.
FreightDATA is a provider of LTL and intermodal enterprise software. KonaWare provides multi-platform software frameworks for mobile applications.
Dependable Highway Express, a Los Angeles-based logistics provider, is the first joint customer according to the announcement from KonaWare.
Currently, Dependable Highway Express drivers collect delivery information (manifests, bills of lading, delivery receipts, etc.) manually and communicate by phone. Many of those paper documents are scanned in the back office in different terminals.
FreightDATA Mobile will provide Dependable Highway Express with a wireless handheld computer to interact with the company’s FreightDATA dispatching and transportation management system. The application will run on Pocket PC devices with wide area wireless connectivity.
“We expect to save up to 15% in operational costs,” said Michael Dougan, CFO of Dependable Highway Express.
