Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company produced its 50,000th dry van trailer at its Glade Spring, Va., manufacturing plant for K-VA-T Food Stores Inc., the parent company of supermarket retailer Food City.

Food City operates 106 retail supermarkets throughout the tri-state regions of southeast Kentucky, southwest Virginia and northeast Tennessee. Dry van number 50,000 is a 4000D-X Composite.
“We would like to congratulate Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company and their team of dedicated associates on reaching such an important milestone in their plant’s history,” says Steven C. Smith, Food City president and CEO.
Utility currently operates five trailer manufacturing facilities across the United States. The Clearfield, Utah and Marion, Va., plants manufacture Utility’s refrigerated trailer. Utility dry vans are manufactured in Glade Spring, Va., and Paragould, Ark. Utility also has a facility in Enterprise, Ala., that manufactures flatbeds and the company’s Tautliners.
