Drivers whose medical exams were conducted by the late Dr. Paul Besdansky, Garden City, Ga., need to get a reexamination, says the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Besdansky was in failing health toward the end of his life and was not conducting proper exams, the agency said.

Besdansky was in failing health toward the end of his life and was not conducting proper exams, the agency said.
Spokesman Duane DeBruyne said the agency believes some 3,000 drivers have certificates signed by Besdansky. Most reside in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
They must be re-examined and submit a new certificate to the state agency that issued their license and to their employer.
Certificates that were signed by Besdansky will be invalid on May 2.
FMCSA is asking law enforcement personnel to immediately tell the driver and the agency when they see a certificate signed by Besdansky.
