Flying J, Ogden, Utah, announced that Crystal Call Maggelet, chairman of the board and the founder's daughter, will add the duties of president and chief executive officer, assuming operational leadership of the company.
She succeeds J. Phillip Adams, who resigned as president and CEO just weeks after the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

"All of us at Flying J recognize and appreciate the contributions Phil has made to the company over the years, and we wish him well," said Maggelet. "Given the challenges our company is currently facing, however, it is essential that we look forward. We are receiving tremendous counsel and support from our team of restructuring experts, including our new chief restructuring officer John Boken, our financial advisor The Blackstone Group L.P., and our law firm of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. As a result, we have great confidence in the company's ability to successfully emerge from its current restructuring a much stronger company with bright future prospects."

According to the Salt Lake Tribune, Maggelet has served on Flying J's board for more than 20 years. With her husband she owns a regional chain of hotels called Crystal Inn. She has a masters of business administration degree from Harvard University.
