Fleetguard Emission Solutions has announced the availability of the first retrofit system that reduces emissions levels from diesel engines.
The product, called the Longview system, is a new technology for reducing oxides of nitrogen (NOx) coupled with particulate matter (PM) reduction capability. The California Air Resources Board has verified the effectiveness of the Longview system, according to Fleetguard.
Cleaire Advanced Emission Controls, the development partner of Fleetguard, announced the verification this week. The air board verified that the Longview system reduces NOx by 25% while simultaneously reducing PM by 85%. This system will be distributed throughout North America by Fleetguard Emission Solutions and is currently available for on-road use in a variety of applications.
"We are excited to be able to provide the first verified NOx aftertreatment product in the industry," said Amy Boerger, director of retrofit sales and marketing for Fleetguard Emission Solutions. "This system fits well with the rest of our retrofit product portfolio, and we are already seeing enthusiasm for the Longview system from our customers."
Cleaire began producing the Longview system in the fall of 2001 and has already installed the system throughout California on about 60 vehicles. Longview is currently in use on long-haul trucks, dump trucks, refuse trucks and transit buses.
