SkyBitz, Dulles, Va., announced that five new fleet customers have installed its patented Global Location Systems (GLS) system - a satellite-based trailer tracking and information management service.
The fleets are HiLine Moving, RB High Tech Transport, SMD Logistics Inc., Stagecoach Cartage & Distribution L.P. and Teton Transportation Inc.
SkyBitz’s GLS is an alternative to Global Positioning System or GPS. According to SkyBitz, GLS brings improvement in cost, coverage, power consumption and ease of installation. GLS is generally accurate within 15 meters, and the GLS communicator provides multiyear battery life on inexpensive AA batteries without recharging or external power. SkyBitz communicates over the M-Sat geosychronous satellite for near universal coverage.
SkyBitz said the new customers bring their fleet customer total to 35.
