Electric Vehicles International, a manufacturer of alternative fuel vehicles, will move its headquarters from Toluca, Mexico, to Stockton, Calif., where there is a larger market for the company's products.


With a sales and marketing office in Austin, Texas, EVI has sold more than 1,000 electric vehicles. The move will create more than 100 local jobs, and the company expects to start deliveries next month.

"This is the time for us to make the move into the world's single biggest and most important market for electric commercial vehicles," said CEO Ricky Hanna. "We have the tried and tested technology the USA has been waiting for. Stockton's location, its logistics capabilities and its pro-business environment mean we will have better and faster access to all key markets and more space and freedom in which to grow."
