Unveiled last week at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, KY, TruckCenter.com provides a marketplace for the sale of new and used trucks, tractors, trailers, parts, accessories, as well as related services such as financing, insurance, and third-party service providers such as vehicle inspection, warranty and driveaway.
In addition, the one-stop shopping place will offer industry news, weather and road information, load boards, road and towing services, titling and registration, employment and entertainment.
TruckCenter.com is a joint effort between Associates, a leading provider of financing to the transportation industry, and Entrade, a company specializing in business-to-business e-commerce marketplaces. Entrade's technology enables secure online transactions, auctions, e-procurement, inventory management and asset management and recovery.
Among the companies presently participating in TruckCenter.com are: Associates, Volvo Trucks North America, Ryder System, Penske Truck Leasing, Ruan Leasing, Arrow Truck Sales, Rush Enterprises (a network of heavy duty truck centers), Crook Motors, HD America (heavy duty parts marketing group), Tomahawk Truck & Trailer Sales, Comvehicle (transportation consulting services), VehiCare (on-site PM, equipment evaluations and repairs), Driveaway USA, Road Ready Registration (registration and tilting service), Nationwide Auction Systems, National Private Truck Council and Getloaded.com (internet load board for truckers).
TruckCenter.com's software allows multiple buyers, multiple sellers and three types of online purchase methods -- fixed price, open bid and auction -- explained Bob Lederer, vice president - marketing and sales. Through the service providers, buyers can find immediate online financing, insurance, warranty and other time-of-purchase needs.
The process begins when sellers fill out the online listing form with detailed information and photographs and decide the purchase method. Buyers can search listings by choosing specs or other criteria, such as brand, model, year or geographic location. Buyers and sellers can conduct online negotiations and complete the deal.
TruckCenter.com is set to go online in mid-April, Lederer said, but it can be demo'd now at www.TruckCenter.com. He expects more than 20,000 vehicles will be listed by the time the marketplace opens for business.
