Daimler Trucks North America said it has reached 10,000 new orders for vehicles equipped with selective catalytic reduction emissions technology
. Daimler chose SCR as the technology to meet 2010 emissions standards.
According to the company, SCR-equipped trucks reduce emissions to near-zero levels of NOx and particulate matter as measured at the tailpipe while improving fuel economy up to 5 percent compared to EPA 2007 engines. Every new Freightliner Cascadia, Coronado and line of M2 business-class medium-duty vehicles are now available with Detroit Diesel BlueTec or Cummins SCR emissions equipment.
"SCR is the industry's premier solution for meeting the 2010 emission requirements, and our customers are already benefitting from the technology," said David Hames, general manager, marketing and strategy for Daimler Trucks North America.
