SkyBitz Inc., Dulles, Va., announced it has signed truckload carrier D+S Distribution Inc., Wooster, Ohio, to its Global Locating System (GLS) for trailer tracking.
Skybitz has installed 300 SkyBitz Mobile Terminals throughout the D+S fleet. D+S hauls for major food and beverage suppliers, paper products companies, container suppliers and automotive manufacturers.
According to the SkyBitz press release, D+S considered two GPS-based tracking solutions but found neither offered the trailer utilization, extended battery life or ease of installation of SkyuBitz.
“We knew it was crucial to implement an intelligent tracking solution if we wanted to reach the next level of trailer utilization,” said Kevin Trent, vice president of finance, D+S Distribution Inc. “With SkyBitz’s easy to use GLS platform we are able to see how many trailers are in use at a certain location which allows us to reassign trailers that have been idle for an extended period of time greatly improving our truck-to-trailer ratio, customer service levels, and return on our technology investment.”
