Drov Technologies has joined forces with Stoughton Trailers to offer its AirBoxOne smart trailer solution, which integrates smart components and sensors all along the trailer.

Using wired and wireless technologies, key operational and safety information flows directly from the vehicle to the fleet and the driver, relaying diagnostics in real time to enhance safety, security, tire life, fuel economy and operational efficiencies, all while reducing maintenance cost and downtime.

“For the last four years, we’ve been building out what we consider to be the most comprehensive solution for the trailer market,” Lisa Mullen, CEO and managing partner, told industry press at the American Trucking Associations’ Technology & Maintenance Council Fall Meeting in Cleveland, Ohio.

“Our goal at Drov is to continue to innovate and continue to integrate smart technology that’s available on the trailer and in the industry, and to continue to be an aggregator, so that collectively we can provide the best solution for the fleet,” Drov CEO Lisa Mullen told industry press at the TMC Fall Meeting.

AirBoxOne can read any sensor on the trailer, change and control tire pressure, enable camera setups on the trailer, and provide driver alerts. It provides tire-pressure monitoring and integrates electronically controlled tire management that inflates and deflates based on load.

The platform can also connect to cargo and rear view cameras, ultrasonic backup sensors and additional sensor integrations to detect everything from wheel-end temperature and load weight to extreme G-forces, cargo security breaches and advanced brake monitoring.

Through its Vehicle Health Display, an in-cab mobile app and a web dashboard, real-time health alerts and notifications are wirelessly communicated to the cab and stored in the Cloud.

Whenever a change in conditions is detected by the various sensors configured with the platform, these alerts, along with real-time information on trailer status and location are transmitted via secure Cloud communications to authorized Drov web-based mobile or desktop users and provided to fleets via an available software API.

The driver will be notified via mobile app when system alerts are triggered for issues with tire pressures, brakes, hubs, door position and other warnings. Through the rear-view camera and ultrasonic sensors, drivers and autonomous power units now have visibility behind the trailer.

Drov’s AirBoxOne is an open and agnostic platform, a central gateway able to connect to a myriad of sensors and integrate with other third-party smart solutions around the trailer.

This system captures and sends multipoint operational data to a fleets logistics center, and multiple solutions can be customized to meet the specific needs of a fleet.

AirBoxOne primarily runs on auxiliary power and has a backup battery and solar charging. These three power sources are redundant to make sure the system can always function, Drov officials said.

“Our goal at Drov is to continue to innovate and continue to integrate smart technology that’s available on the trailer and in the industry, and to continue to be an aggregator, so that collectively we can provide the best solution for the fleet,” Mullen said.
