DPS Software Systems, Pasadena, Calif., announced the release of alphaPORTAL, a full featured portal and web services application designed for motor carriers.

Designed as a collaborative portal, alphaPORTAL was developed for carriers that are looking to differentiate themselves from the competition by providing value added services and tools through their company web sites, according to DPS. alphaPORTAL goes beyond tracking of shipments and simple proof of delivery to provide personalized features including online rating, pickup scheduling, bill of lading generation, account history, and reconciliation.
The first release is fully integrated with alphaTRUCK, DPS Software's Transportation Management System, with future integration planned for other systems, including custom and third party systems.
Designed to be open and platform independent, alphaPORTAL uses XML (Extensible Markup Language) to communicate and share data with any machine or device regardless of platform.
DPS Software Systems was founded in 1985 to deliver software solutions to the transportation industry. Extensive experience in the LTL market led to the development of alphaTRUCK, alphaIMAGE and alphaTRACK to deliver a complete turnkey system combining operations, document management and e-business into a single solution.
