Thomas J. Donohue, president and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, will deliver the keynote address at the Motor and Equipment Manufacturers Association's upcoming Legislative Summit on April 29 in Washington, D.C.

"Our members look forward to Donohue's thought and insight into the economic challenges facing American businesses and how we can work together in addressing these challenges with the new Administration and the new Congress," said Bob McKenna, MEMA's president and CEO.

Since Donohue assumed his position in 1997, the Chamber has helped secure many legislative victories, including major tax cuts, more sensible workplace and environmental regulations, and increased funding for transportation. Under Donohue's leadership, the Chamber has also emerged as a major player in election politics, helping elect congressional pro-business candidates through financial support and voter activism and turnout generated through the Chamber's grassroots organization, VoteForBusiness.com.

MEMA's Legislative Summit will take place on April 29-30. The annual event is expected to bring together more than 100 CEOs and senior executives from leading automotive and heavy duty supplier companies located throughout the country. This year's event will feature speakers, panelists and briefings that highlight the implications of the national economy on the supplier community and outline the key legislative issues and their impact on suppliers. The Legislative Summit will also include a Congressional Reception and Supplier Fair that highlights the industry's accomplishments relating to fuel efficiency, safety, and green technology. MEMA will also present its prestigious Joseph M. Magliochetti Industry Champion Award at a special luncheon.

MEMA supports its members through its three market segment associations, Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA), Heavy Duty Manufacturers Association (HDMA), and Original Equipment Suppliers Association (OESA).
