Diesel Truck Driver Training School, Sun Prairie, Wis., offers a new online training for students who wish to acquire their Commercial Driver's License. The program is considered a stepping stone to Diesel Truck Driver Training School's hands-on commercial driving classes.
The online course is offered through the CDL Store and is designed to give students the knowledge they need to pass the Commercial Driver License exams. The program touches on all aspects of the CDL exams, including the Class A, B and C license, passenger vehicles, doubles and triples, and hazardous materials transportation.
The course costs $24.95 and after paying the fee, students are sent an email giving them a user name and password that allows them to login to the online portal and begin the course.
The course is divided into two levels, each with three individual sections. The first level is called the Core Curriculum and deals with General Knowledge, Air Brakes and Combination Vehicles. Level 2 is titled "Endorsements" and deals with Doubles and Triples, Tank Vehicles and Hazardous Materials Transportation.
Each section is broken down into several subsections, each of which is followed by a brief quiz. Each of the three sections for each level is followed by a section exam. Students are required to pass each quiz and each section exam with a mark of at least 50 percent in order to progress to the following section. Students who score less than 50 percent have the opportunity to review the course material and re-take the quiz or section exam.
Those who pass the test are then eligible to take one of Diesel Truck Driver Training School's courses which involve classroom training and hands-on driving training using the school's fleet of vehicles.
Diesel Truck Driver Training School is recognized by the United States Department of Education and licensed by the Wisconsin Educational Approval Board, the Minnesota Higher Education Services Office, and the Illinois Department of Education. It is also recognized by the US Department of Veterans Affairs and is eligible to train veterans.
