Diesel prices continue to slide this week as the national average dropped to $3.83 per gallon, which is down 2.5 cents from last week and 14.8 cents from last year at this time.
In fact, the average price for diesel fell all across the county in every region reported in the U.S. Energy Administration's Gasoline and Diesel Fuel Update.
The largest drops in price were seen at the pumps on the West Coast, where diesel fell 3.9 cents to $3.98 per gallon. The Gulf Coast only experienced a drop of 1.7 cents, but diesel there on average is the cheapest you can find anywhere in the lower 48 at $3.75 a gallon.
Gasoline prices nationwide also fell this week. The U.S. average price for gasoline dropped 2.9 cents per gallon to $3.27, which is down 22.7 cents from a year ago.
On Tuesday, light, sweet crude for December delivery followed the trend set by diesel and gasoline prices and fell 55 cents to $94.6 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
