As the EPA 2010 emissions regulation nears, Detroit Diesel is dedicated to ensuring its service network is prepared for the launch of its BlueTec(r) Emissions Technology.
Detroit Diesel recently completed its seventh BlueTec technician training course, which provides hands-on training with the proprietary one-box BlueTec system. The courses are held for customers receiving EPA 2010 demonstration units as well as the Dealer and Distributor outlets designated to support them.

The Detroit Diesel Training department started planning the BlueTec course in July 2008, with the first class taught this past December - more than a full year in advance of EPA 2010 emissions standards.

"Our course developers were able to leverage Daimler's [Detroit Diesel's parent company] BlueTec experience when designing the course. Their experience gave us a unique advantage and helped us build a great training curriculum," said Kevin Holland, senior manager, Service Training for Daimler Trucks North America. Since launching BlueTec in 2005, Daimler has over 200,000 BlueTec equipped trucks operating in Europe.

"Our goal with introducing this course is to provide our network with a wealth of information on Detroit Diesel's BlueTec well in advance of its implementation to be sure our customer's benefit from the best performing network," said Holland.

The training includes an introduction to BlueTec; tools specific to 2010; system diagnostics; SCR system components; and much more. To further supplement the in-class training, Detroit Diesel will launch a Web-based BlueTec course in late 2009.

The BlueTec training course builds on Detroit Diesel's already extensive offering of G2 training programs. In 2007, Detroit Diesel's G2 Program was selected to Training Magazine's Top 125, the most elite ranking among Fortune 500 companies for their training and learning development programs.
