With more than 60,000 units in the field SkyBitz – the satellite-based trailer tracking and information management service – said it has signed Des Moines Transportation to its customer base.

Des Moines Transportation chose SkyBitz’s Global Locating System (GLS) Platform for better trailer utilization, improved customer service, as well as security and risk reduction.
“Our trailers travel throughout the U.S., Mexico and Canada and knowing their locations at all times is a formidable task,” said Jack Sawyer, president, Des Moines Transportation. “As a carrier of food products, timely delivery is imperative to the success of our business. SkyBitz’s easy-to-install GLS technology gives us the ability to plan effectively when scheduling the pick-up and drop-off of our customers’ loads.”
In addition, Des Moines Transportation chose the GLS Platform to ensure driver management. With the SkyBitz technology installed across its fleet, the company is able to locate trailers throughout the Continental U.S. and Canada. As a 100 percent owner-operated company, Des Monies Transportation hauls primarily food products for its customer base.
