Dana Celebrating its 100th Birthday Today
Dana Corp. is celebrating its 100th birthday today by exhibiting its off-highway technologies at a German trade show
Dana Corp. is celebrating its 100th birthday today by exhibiting its off-highway technologies at a German trade show.
Bauma 2004, one of the world's largest construction, mining and off-highway-equipment trade shows, runs through April 4 in Munich, Germany.
Dana is displaying its systems capabilities in axles, transmissions, driveshafts and electronic controls.
The exhibit will also pay tribute to Dana's heritage, as the company celebrates its 100th anniversary today.
The Dana history dates to April 1, 1904, when the company's founder, Clarence Spicer, began a small universal-joint manufacturing company in the corner of the Potter Printing Press Co. in Plainfield, N.J.
"For 100 years, Dana has provided its customers with value-added products and technologies," said Michael J. Burns, Dana CEO and president.
"And, as the components and systems on display this week at Bauma illustrate, our people are actively extending this heritage into our second century."
"Dana began humbly," said Nick Cole, president of Dana's Heavy Vehicle Technologies and Systems Group. "From a six-person, one-room enterprise, today's Dana has evolved into a technology leader offering advancements in mobility to customers around the globe."
Among the products that Dana is featuring at the Munich show are the following:
-- The Spicer Powershuttle Transmission Model PSR08 for compact vehicles, including backhoe loaders, telescopic handlers and tow tractors of up to 120-horsepower
-- Complete drivetrain systems for backhoe loaders, front-end loaders, teleboom handlers and wheeled excavators
-- Spicer TE15, TE27, and TE32 transmissions for material handling equipment
-- Wheel-ends and high-capacity, liquid-cooled brakes for mining
-- A complete display of wing, round, and half-round driveshafts and end-fittings
-- An area featuring parts, service, and distribution capabilities.
