"We're faced with a possible change to the hours-of-service rule, a long overdue highway bill and a mounting stack of regulations on top of a sluggish economic recovery," England said. "In order to meet these challenges, we need to speak with one voice, remembering that there is more that unites our industry than divides it."

England takes over for Barbara Windsor, president and CEO of Hahn Transportation Inc., New Market, Md.

"It has been an incredible experience serving as ATA's chairman this past year," Windsor said. "I'd like to thank my fellow ATA members for the opportunity and wish Dan well, though I'm confident he'll do an outstanding job as chairman."

C.R. England was started in 1920 by Dan's grandfather, Chester England, with a Model T truck. Dan England received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Utah. In 1974 he entered private law practice, where he specialized in insurance litigation and transportation. In 1977 he joined the family business and became in-house legal counsel. In 1982, he was promoted to general manager, a position he held until 1988 when he was made CEO. He was elected president and chairman in 2005.

England is a past chairman of the Truckload Carriers Association and currently serves as a vice chairman of ATA. He is also a past president of the Utah Trucking Association.

He was named an HDT Truck Fleet Innovator in 2007; read that article here.
