Cummins Emission Solutions, a division of Cummins Inc., is in the advanced development stages of a new urea dosing system - the EcoFit Urea Dosing System.
This new aftertreatment product innovation is designed to meet upcoming emission regulations in China, India, and Russia.
Cummins Emission Solutions also introduced the EcoFit brand, which will represent all Cummins Emission Solutions global aftertreatment products and solutions. "EcoFit symbolizes clean emission solutions that leverage innovative technology, customized to fit different engines and applications," the company said in a release.
The EcoFit Urea Dosing System is being developed by Cummins Emission Solutions for use in light-, medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles. Cumins says it will easily integrate into existing engine and aftertreatment systems.
The EcoFit Urea Dosing System will be manufactured at the Cummins Emission Solutions facility in Beijing and will be supported by a global technical organization, which has a significant presence in Beijing.
The EcoFit Urea Dosing System is a reductant delivery system that injects a solution of 32.5% urea and 67.5% de-ionized water, also known as Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) or AdBlue, into the exhaust stream. Cummins says it offers system integration opportunities that are better than those from current selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems. Improved Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx) conversion efficiency gives customers the opportunity to tune engines for improved fuel economy or to reduce the size of a typical SCR system, Cummins says. The system is also designed to minimize the risk of urea deposits, increasing the durability and reliability of the aftertreatment system.
A Cummins Emission Solutions spokesperson told Truckinginfo that the EcoFit dosing system is ready to meet upcoming emissions regulations in China, India and Russia, and the company is doing proptotyping with OEMs for those markets.
"We are still evaluating what future platforms will adopt this urea dosing system, be they in Europe, in North America, for on-highway or off-highway," the spokesman said.
