GeoLogic Solutions, among the transportation industry’s leading providers of multi-mode mobile communications and tracking systems, said Ohio-based Craig Transportation is upgrading its fleet with the MobileMax Multi-Mode solution.

Craig Transportation, which first equipped its fleet with mobile communications and tracking systems from GeoLogic in 1995, specializes in regional and multi-regional dry van service, serving all points between Illinois and New Jersey and between Michigan and Kentucky.
“The GeoLogic multi-mode system has provided us with the continuous coverage we require while remaining cost-effective on a monthly basis,” said Lance Craig, president. “Our initial purchase decision was based on not compromising usability to simply lower cost. We always looked at the longer term benefits and with GeoLogic, the multi-mode system’s reliability, effectiveness and cost efficiency have survived the test of time.”
He said MobileMax is able to send and receive messages faster than satellite-only systems. “We specialize in retail deliveries, including next-day and expedited service,” he explained, “and in many metropolitan areas the messaging response time with the multi-mode technology is quicker and often more reliable because the system is not limited by the need for the satellite to see the truck. In addition to always being accessible, over 50% of our transmissions are not carried by the more expensive satellite system.”
Benefits of MobileMax for Craig Transportation include improved driver retention, increased vehicle utilization and productivity and enhanced customer service. The system, Craig noted, makes it easier for drivers and dispatchers to do their jobs, and is a highly efficient way to pass information to back office systems as well as to customers. In addition, while there are many intangible benefits that add up to real savings, the company has also realized a reduction in telephone costs.
