This year's Convoy for the Kids truck show will be held at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Greenwich, N.Y., on Saturday, July 24.
The event was created by Charles Claburn, a truck driver from the Hudson Falls area. The goal of the show is to aid the children and unite the trucking industry for a worthy cause. It's also a way of showing the softer side of the trucking industry.
Convoy for the Kids hopes to raise $20,000 in funds for the Prospect Child and Family Center in Queensbury, N.Y., a licensed diagnostic and treatment center. The center is also a fully accredited educational facility which offers multi-faceted services for at-risk and developmentally disabled individuals in the community.
The day will kick off with a truck convoy to the fairgrounds, with the goal of breaking the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest truck convoy. The convoy will be led by Bad Habit, the 2010 International LoneStar show truck from Regional International, the main sponsor of the event.
Other events at Convoy for the Kids include a show n' shine, truck pull, vendors, food, kids area, live entertainment and awards ceremony.
