Computrucks.com, previously an online used-truck locator, is adding new trucks to its lineup.
Terry Young, owner of Volvo and GMC Truck Center of Carolina, calls it the first and only site where a buyer can order a new heavy-duty or medium-duty truck online from a franchised dealer. The launch of the site will be officially announced this weekend during the American Truck Dealers Convention and Exposition in San Antonio, TX.
Computrucks.com is a joint venture between Comp-U-Truck (a well-established searchable online database of used heavy trucks) and a network of heavy truck dealers representing all major manufacturers. Dealer representatives from each manufacturer will be shareholders of the company and hold seats on the Board of Directors.
Computrucks.com will cater to owner-operators and small fleet owners. The site will allow users access to truck specifications, manufacturer information, and color photos of the trucks. You simply describe the basic specs of the truck you're looking for - make, model, engine, transmission, etc. - and enter your contact information. Computrucks.com will deliver the lead to the nearest member dealer offering that truck, who will contact the customer within 24 hours.
