Clean Energy Fuels Corp. has launched a new natural gas truck fueling station on a 2.9-acre site next to the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles.
As the largest natural gas truck fueling station in the world, it is designed to accommodate the goals of the San Pedro Bay Ports' Clean Air Action Plan and Clean Truck programs, according to Clean Energy.

The new station is equipped to fuel trucks 24/7 and includes two 25,000-gallon liquefied natural gas storage tanks, six LNG dispensers and two compressed natural gas dispensers. The station is housed on property leased from the Port of Long Beach.

"We have seen demand for LNG and CNG fuel grow significantly as major trucking companies secure and deploy new natural gas-powered trucks at the ports," said Andrew Littlefair, Clean Energy president and CEO. "As demand for the environmentally-friendly fuel continues to increase, Clean Energy plans to add 50,000 gallons of fuel storage to the new station's current capacity, as well as four more LNG/CNG fueling lanes."

The Ports' Clean Air Action Plan and Clean Truck programs require the retirement or conversion of old diesel trucks entering the ports. The new station is the second station Clean Energy has opened in the area, the first of which serves port drayage trucks. Opened in December 2007, it currently supplies about 10,000 LNG gallons of fuel per day.
