BP Lubricants USA Inc. has announced the grand prizewinner in its second annual Big Honkin' Truck Makeover contest presented by Castrol Tection Extra. Ohio trucker Kevin Greene and his 1990 Peterbilt
are the lucky recipients of the $50,000 one-of-a-kind makeover from The Chrome Shop Mafia.
Greene was the grand prizewinner in front of a live audience at the Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS) last month in Louisville. The Cincinnati owner-operator, who has been in the trucking business for more than 20 years, considers his truck a vital part of his success and plans to drive his Peterbilt for many more years to come.
"This is a truck driver's dream come true, "said Greene, following his big win. "I am very excited to have a top-notch makeover on the heart and soul of my business. My Peterbilt will turn heads, attract customers and make me proud to be on the road again."
The second annual Big Honkin' Truck Makeover contest was launched last August and attracted hundreds of eligible entrants, all vying for the ultimate chance to improve the most integral part of their work life - their truck.
"The Big Honkin' Truck Makeover is Castrol's way of recognizing that an owner-operator's truck is critical to his or her business," said Tracy Drelich, assistant promotions manager for BP Lubricants USA Inc. "We wanted to give back to one deserving driver who values the maintenance of his truck and relies on its performance and aesthetics for business success."
Greene's Peterbilt will receive a $50,000 interior, exterior and communications makeover customized by The Chrome Shop Mafia, the big rig truck mechanics and stars of the Country Music Television (CMT) series "Trick My Truck." Greene is excited to meet The Chrome Shop Mafia in their shop - 4 State Trucks in Joplin, Mo. - and watch the popular team of trucking outlaws turn his worn 1990 Peterbilt - with 1.3 million miles -into a newly modified masterpiece.
"I'm definitely a fan of The Chrome Shop Mafia and I am looking forward to meeting all the guys - they are the best in the business. I know that whatever they do to my truck, the result will be first-rate.
The makeover will include products from the following sponsors:
• 4 State Trucks/The Chrome Shop Mafia
• Continental Tire North America
• National Seating Company
• Alcoa Wheel Products
• Grote Industries
• Sirius Satellite Radio
• Delphi
• Your Truck Shop
The runner-up, Bruce Faulk, and second prizewinner, Ronny Robin, did not walk away empty-handed. Faulk received a five-day, four-night trip for two to the NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas with $500 spending cash. Robin received a $500 Best Buy Gift Card to be used towards electronics. All three winners received a year's supply of Castrol Tection Extra.
The newly renovated Peterbilt will be unveiled at the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas, Texas, Aug. 23-25.
