Twenty-four carriers have requested confidentiality under new rules regarding financial and operating data interstate trucking companies must file with the Bureau of Transportation Statistics.

Federal regulations require all for-hire carriers with annual operating revenues over $3 million to file annual reports with BTS, a division of the Department of Transportation. Carriers with revenues of $10 million or more must file quarterly reports. The data is available to the public and widely used by government agencies, insurance agencies, researchers and other carriers.
BTS recently dropped a proposal to restrict access to individual carrier data. Instead, carriers that feel disclosure of the data would cause competitive harm must request an exemption from public release. BTS will periodically publish the names of the carriers requesting the exemption and allow time for public comment.
Carriers on this list are B.N.M. Fertilizer Transport, Bilbo Transports, Bolus Freight Systems, BT Inc., Clarksville Refrigerated Lines, Contract Freighters, Cumberland Transportation, Drug Transport, Dupre Transport, Gainey Transportation Service, Howard's Express, and Leprino Transportation.
Also included are Lester Coggins Trucking, Melton Truck Lines, NSG Transport, Puget Sound Truck Lines, Schneider National, Schneider National Bulk Carriers, Schneider Specialized, Schneider Tank Lines, Schneider Transport, Trans American Trucking Service, Truckers Express and Umthun Trucking.
