Deltek hybrid diesel electric technology from Carrier Transicold, a business unit of United Technologies Corp., won top honors in technical achievement from the Truck Writers of North America (TWNA)
at the 2006 Annual Meeting of the Technology and Maintenance Council (TMC) of the American Trucking Associations.
Carrier’s Deltek led a pack of five finalists selected from nine semi-finalists chosen by a committee of 13 truck journalists working from nominations submitted by TWNA members. In selecting a winner, TWNA seeks innovative products that became commercially available in the calendar year and must advance the art of trucking in some significant way.
“We couldn’t be more pleased with this significant confirmation of Deltek technology as a game changer in the truck and trailer refrigeration industry,” said Ignacio Aguerrevere, director of marketing and product development, Carrier Transicold Truck/Trailer/Rail Americas. “The TWNA is a seasoned group of industry journalists who see hundreds of product developments every year. To have our technology recognized as the best for 2005 by this discerning group is an exceptional honor.”
Deltek hybrid diesel electric technology is a radical departure from the mechanical refrigeration systems that have defined the refrigerated trucking industry for the last 50 years. It increases reliability and unit life and offers dramatic maintenance savings by eliminating most of the mechanical components that require routine service that are common to conventional systems. Deltek technology uses maintenance-free electric components powered by a new ultra-high performance Hamilton-Sundstrand generator.
The Vector 1800MT multi-temperature unit for grocery, food distribution, produce shipping and other applications, is the first product in North America to leverage Deltek technology.
Carrier Transicold provides transport temperature-control solutions with a complete line of equipment for refrigerated trucks, trailers and containers, and transport air conditioning systems for buses and recreational vehicles.
