Qualcomm Inc., San Diego, Calif., announced last week that Cargo Transporters, a national truckload carrier specializing in dry van freight, has agreed to equip 1,000 of its trailers with the T2
Untethered TrailerTRACS asset management solution.
The T2 Untethered TrailerTRACS solution is a stand-alone GPS/cellular system that offers near real-time visibility into trailer locations. Features include ruggedized on-board
hardware, power management, complete network and data delivery services and sensors to determine the status of doors and load.
T2 uses standard 3G CDMA, the service provided by Sprint, and analog cellular to provide a broad North American coverage footprint to deliver automatic GPS location and status reports in addition to event alerts from optional geofence features and cargo and door sensors when tethered or untethered. Trailer management data from the T2 system can be integrated with dispatch and operations software using Qualcomm’s AS/400 or Web trailer fleet management software.
Cargo Transporters, part of CT Group, is a trucking operation with intrastate and interstate common and contract authority based in Claremont, N.C. The company specializes in truckload dry van freight with an emphasis on long term contracts with partner shippers. In addition, the company services those customers who require time definite or just-in-time service.
Cargo Transporters operates over 400 tractors and 1,300 trailers using advanced systems including EDI, interactive internet applications, and Qualcomm's OmniTRACS incab satellite communications solution.
